A comedy of errors led to the first of Nuneaton's half dozen goals in the 25th minute. A harmless diagonal ball was floated into area. Sidhu made a hash of collecting it, and chased it as it rolled away from him off his chest. An attacking Borough player was onto it in a flash, and as Sidhu didn't know whether to go to him or back off, the attacker had time to look up and dink it into the far corner from an acute angle. Not even the head of Gregory on the line could prevent it.

The second, after 40 minutes, was a soft goal after desperately poor defending. Brakes dallied when they should have hoofed, and lost the ball in the area. A rather tame shot beat the prostrate Sidhu at the near post.

The third, and the goal that finished the tie off in reality, came three minutes into the second half. The visitors easily found our defensive weak point - running at the right side of the defence. The back line was in disarray as the skill and composure of the Conference team started to show. In truth, the build up was better than the goal itself, which was slotted easily past Sidhu in goal. This was quickly followed by the fourth on 51 minutes - a real shambles.

The game didn't get much better from that point on. Borough added a fifth and then a sixth on 72 minutes.

There were few chances for any players to shine. Sidwell had a good game, thwarting many attacks with his presence and size, and Curphey came on and within seconds forced the only save of the game from the visiting keeper.

Overall a disappointing display from the Brakes - thank God it was only a friendly. Once again our defence looked vulnerable when run at. This is something that we have to address. Four of the six goals were gifted through poor defending. If the opposition are going to score, we have to make them work for it and deserve it. Sloppiness like that displayed in parts today, will be punished many times at the Premier level.
