About the Fanzine
Windmill Wonderland has been around since season 2000/2001,
chronicling the re-emergence of Leamington FC from Division Two of the Midland
Combination, on our journey back up the Non-League Pyramid.
The brainchild of
exiled Brakes fan Mark Chadderton, the fanzine existed primarily to create a
historical record for supporters. Chad wanted to help raise money for the club,
and the fanzine was a unique way of doing that. He worked extremely hard to
produce it as often as he could, with help from a small group of regular
contributors. At the beginning of the 2004/2005 season, Peter Davis and myself
decided to have a go at producing the fanzine, to prevent it from becoming
extinct, as Chad was unable to continue struggling to produce it from a distance
on his own, due to major computer problems! Sales have been extremely
encouraging, and we hope that the light hearted and humorous slant we have
introduced to the fanzine has gone down well. Thanks must go to Jason Clough, or
Cloughiewuffy, as he is fast becoming known on NBB, for helping us with sales at
home games last season.
We have managed to drum up a regular group of contributors, to whom we are very
grateful for their continued input. After all, the fanzine is written for
the fans, by the fans, and without your contributions, it would become
boring and rubbish, like this article, because I would have write most of it!
Most of what is written in WW is off the cuff, spur of the moment stuff, and
although we got under a few people’s skin last season, none of it is intended to
offend! Any kind of contributions are welcome, be they handwritten or e‑mailed,
and subscriptions are available. Contact the e-mail address below for details.
One thing we are always after is match reports, as the two of us can’t make it
to every game like some of you lucky so and so’s. They don't have to be English
essay length, just include the main details, and make it humorous! Any ideas are
also welcomed, if you think we’re doing things well, or you think it’s a pile of
rubbish, let us know!
Production costs aside, all funds from the sale of WW are put back into the
club. Back issues are available, although we are sold out of
Issues
5, 7, 8, 9,
11, 14, 15, 19, 22, 25, 26, 33, 34 & 35. See any member of the Editorial Team for availability.
We are aiming to produce the fanzine as often as we can, although how much copy
we receive will dictate that to a certain degree. If you enjoy reading WW, get
in touch!
All the best,
Paul Edwards - Ed.
